Meet Melissa Brechon
Melissa comes to Library Strategies with over 8 years of experience as a library consultant and over 25 years experience as a librarian and public library administrator. She was an independent consultant with Robert H. Rohlf Consulting and Library Consulting for 8 years before joining Library Strategies as a Lead Consultant. Melissa served as a mentor participant in the Otto Bremer Foundation Rural Libraries and Literacy Leadership Institute in Minnesota as well as Wisconsin.
As an independent consultant, Melissa worked with a variety of clients across the country and was part of a team of library planners and designers who wrote a public library conceptual study for Al Ain, the fourth largest city in the United Arab Emirates. Melissa specializes in Strategic Planning, community needs assessments, staffing studies, library space evaluation, and developing operational policies and procedures. As a library administrator she was directly involved in public library building projects, project management and construction oversight in standalone and multi-use library buildings, budget development and preparation.
Melissa is active in the American Library Association and serves as the Librarian Co-Chair of the Executive Board of the Exhibits Roundtable. She was active in the Minnesota Library Association and for over 25 years and served as Exhibits Chair for the annual conference. Melissa currently serves on the St. Catherine University Alumnae Board, Friends of the St. Catherine University Board of Directors, and is a volunteer grant panelist with the Minnesota Arts Board.
Melissa lives in St. Paul with her dog Bentley, has five daughters and eight grandchildren. She enjoys traveling, reading, gardening, and theater.
